Southern Golf Review was started by a group of guys who love golf and thought it was time to have a place we could go to see how courses local to us were holding up. We wanted to produce a website where we could track how a course plays throughout the year, not just in the prime season, and not have a review that was several years old. We also wanted to get honest reviews on equipment we played and how it felt to us, the mid to high handicapper. Our handicaps range from six to twenty, so some things are a bigger deal to us than a pro. Then again, some things just don’t matter to us that really matter to a pro. So, we hope to bring you some insightful reviews from a unique perspective on courses and equipment here in South Carolina. We hope to venture out a few times a year to North Carolina and Georgia, but we’ll have to wait and see. We all have day jobs that don’t involve working at the local pro shop, golf course, or driving range.
We are based out of the small town of St. George in South Carolina located about an hour from Charelston. In fact we refer to St. George as a “geographical oddity”; it’s one hour from anything. We are about an hour from Columbia, Charleston, Savannah, Sumter or Manning. Being right off of I-95 and less than ten minutes from I-26 does have it’s advantages.
