House of Capulet from Rome y Julieta is worth a shot for a good on the course smoke or for a drink at the clubhouse.
It’s been a while since we published a cigar review and to be honest, I kind of missed it. So, the first review for 2016 is for the Romeo y Julieta House of Capulet Toro edition. These smokes are available exclusively from online cigar retailer Famous Smoke Shop ,which is my primary source of cigars these days.
The Romeo y Julieta House of Capulet proved to be good all around smoke that’s not terribly complex or overpowering, just kind of mellow with a very light flavor profile leaning towards woody or just slightly earthy rounded out by a hint of spice on the finish. With the Connecticut shade wrapper you will get a consistently smooth, velvety smoke from beginning to end. The long fillers are a blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos which give you those earthy and woody tones. We had ten of these during the review process and feel the overall flavor consistency is good with off sticks being a little stronger or a little lighter than the average but not by a wide margin. We did have a slight issue with the inner wrapper wanting to come off when we took off the oversized label wrapper. I think out of the ten we damaged two. I blame this more on the label than the cigar construction as all the rest were well manufactured and didn’t show any signs of looseness in the binding. The draw of the House of Capulet by Romeo y Julieta was great on all of the smokes we tested. A full bodied draw with a medium smoke consistent through the whole box left us wanting more. At about five bucks a stick, I rate these as fairly reasonable purchase.
There are plenty of times you just want to smoke a simple, clean burning cigar that’s not overly complex and is more reasonably priced for whatever activity you might be engaging in. The House of Capulet fills all of these easily. A good smoker, easy to get, value priced without being low end and is fairly consistent. I expect any issues with the wrapper are either not that common or are being addressed by Famous Smoke Shop. Give the Romeo y Julieta House of Capulet a try and let us know what you think.
